What are you doing these days for work? Feel free to share anything about your career that you'd love other Mountaineers to know about you. Is there a particular project that you're proud of? Any career successes that you've achieved after leaving WVU?
After WVU I moved to NYC and graduated from cosmetology school before being accepted into Juilliard's Professional Apprenticeship Program for a year. Now I work backstage on Broadway as a wig and hair stylist & occasional MU artist.
Some of the productions I have worked on include: The Phantom of the Opera, Mean Girls, The Book of Mormon, Moulin Rouge, Six, & more recently Here Lies Love & Some Like it Hot.
What do you enjoy doing when you're not working? How do you like to spend your days?
Music is still a big part of my life in a few ways. I've collected over 600 vinyl records (not a great hobby for a small apartment) & I love discovering a new artist. I try to see as many of them as possible in concert.
Please feel free to share any life updates with our alumni network.
I have been with my partner, Ryan, for 11 years. I'm so thankful for his love & support. Without which I wouldn't have been able to embrace being non-binary. We have a cat named Marilyn who gets treated better than we treat ourselves.
What is one thing that's bringing you joy so far in 2024?
Trans resilience
What is one of your favorite memories about your time at WVU?
It was August of my freshman year, & the first marching band performance (football game) of the season was on my birthday. The rush of running onto the field for the first time was a feeling I'll never forget.
